What we do
Skilled Safety Management (SSM) is a New York City construction safety firm. We provide DOB-licensed Site Safety Managers, Site Safety Coordinators, Concrete Safety Managers, FDNY Fire Safety Managers, Construction Safety Engineers, and full Site Safety Plan preparation across all five boroughs and the surrounding metro area. We work with general contractors, construction managers, developers, building owners, and self-perform builders on commercial, residential high-rise, hospitality, healthcare, infrastructure, and mixed-use projects.
What makes us different
Most NYC site safety firms operate as license rental companies. They sign up credentialed managers as 1099 contractors and rent the license to projects, leaving the manager to handle DOB violations and paperwork alone. We don't.
Every credential we sell is held by an actual SSM employee. We don't subcontract licenses. Our managers know NYC DOB inspectors, FDNY chiefs, and the local idiosyncrasies of building safely in dense urban environments. We staff projects within 48 hours of contract signing and our field managers respond to active-site issues within one hour, day or night.
Founder
SSM was founded in 2024 by Raja Khan, a NYC site safety professional who built the firm around the simple idea that credentialed managers should be paid like professionals, supported like professionals, and respected like professionals. Clients should be able to trust who's actually on their site.
Office
Our office is at 249 52nd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11220, Sunset Park, Brooklyn. From here we dispatch field staff to all five NYC boroughs, Long Island, Westchester, and parts of northern New Jersey.
Credentials and insurance
- All field personnel hold a current NYC DOB or FDNY license matching their assigned role
- All staff hold a valid NYC SST Supervisor card per Local Law 196
- NYC Small Business Services certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) — eligible for MWBE participation on NYC agency contracts (DDC, SCA, NYCHA, EDC, HPD, DCAS)
- The firm carries General Liability, Professional Liability (E&O), and Workers' Compensation insurance
- Certificate of Insurance available within 24 hours of request
Capacity
As of 2026-05-30, SSM staffs DOB-licensed Site Safety Managers, Coordinators, Concrete Safety Managers, FDNY Fire Safety Managers, and OSHA-30 Safety Representatives for active NYC projects across all five boroughs. We hold a field roster deep enough to cover 48-hour mobilization requests and same-day emergency response. We are actively hiring credentialed staff. See open roles.
Hours and emergency response
Mon–Fri 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM · 24/7 active-project response. Active project emergencies (DOB visits, stop work orders, incidents) are handled 24/7 by phone at (212) 498-8863.
